I was going out of my house to meet my friend, when i stepped out of my house, a little surprise awaited me. This orange kitty was a stray cat living around my block of flat, i had been seeing him every two to three days somewhere the area sleeping, sun bathing, or searching for food.
Apparently when i saw him outside my gate, i gave him a cuddle and patted his head, and then on he keeps following me from 4th to ground floor. I was walking down the stairs and he kept blocking my way and rubbing himself against my leg. On some occasion, i almost kicked him when he just suddenly zoomed in front of my feet from behind.
He was found outside my house the second day. I played with him a while before going back in my house. I did not adopt him, but i would say he was one fine cute kitty.
Somehow I feel that animals like cats and dogs (cats especially in Singapore) are very successful in adapting to the urban lifestyle. Not only they know how to take lifts, climb stairs, sleeping on top of car for the heat from the engine or below for a roof, they blend more and more into human lifestyle.
They know who to trust and who not to, they know that by sitting in coffeeshop people will give them food, they know that some kind soul will feed them regularly despite being illegal to feed strays, they know humans aint that scary after all (other than abusers)...
I started to pay attention to the stray cats living in my area. I feel that if you go and pat or cuddle them (remb to wash your hand after that), talk to them daily, they may in fact remember you to some extend. Some of them respond to simple commands like "come" or "go" or even "sit" using hand signs, which i find very interesting. Do take note they are strays and not trained. Probably their extensively stay with human beings made them able to interact with us better.
